2013 Challenge

Well, my Christmas 12 day ornies are coming on beautifully.  I will have finished my fourth giveaway ornie tonight. And with all this gifting and christmassyness I was a thinking about what to do in 2013.

The 2012 WIPocolypse has got me stitching again and I have finished quite a few things. The Papillion SAL, Around the World in 80 Stitches hasn't been touched since my last SAL post..months ago. I will do it but for now I am feeling xmassy.

So what to do for 2013???

I don't want to run anything: I have lots to do with my various yahoo groups.  I don't want to commit to sending things off to other people every month..real life gets in the way and much as I would like a nice, quiet, stress free year, that never seems to happen.

So imagine my joy when I was blog hopping (you know the game....you think you will just catch up on your reading list and before you know it you are reading everyone else's reading lists...so thanks Edgar (Blacksheep) which is where this particular journey started) and I found the most perfect, wonderful, imaginative 2013 challenge.

It is the Needlework Masters Monthly SAL.  And it is wonderful!!!

You make a fabric book for the year: one page for one month, and each month you add to your book.  You can use any needlework craft.  Cross stitch, embroidery, quilting etc and add embellishments.  From what I can gather it is a bit like scrapbooking but with fabric!!  How cool is that.

Barbara has made her book already so pop over and take a look.

Wow...I can't wait.  I have found some black felt, which isn't idea but I am skint so will make do and just have to decide on the colours and fabric for the book.  I think I am going to quilt my book cover...oooo..I wanna go play in my fabrics RIGHT NOW!!

Sigh..but I can't.  I have other things to finish off first...and then I am straight in my fabric box like a penguin leaping into water after a mackeral.  That quick and that smoothly ;-)

And what to do with it?  Should I chose a theme for the book?  Should I do more than one book?  Oh lordy am I excited!

Isn't it a great idea??  A perfect heritage piece to leave behind for generations to come.

And talking of books!

I have made a start on my embroiderer's ledger...mmm that paint does look a bit messy doesn't it.  I am getting neater..slowly.  Third time of doing my colour studies for art because everyone else's was so neat has taught me to start curbing the enthusiasm and upping my neatness level.

ok..will re-do it.
It was fun first time, it will be fun second time and neater lol.

Right that is me done for now.  Have a good week everyone.  Oh and by the way, 17 year old son is still looking for a good home.  Busy blogging and he wants me to do his homework for him grrrrrr.  Give me half a dozen three year olds anytime!
