Fabric Art

Thank you for the comments re the little owl.  I am warming to it as it just looks so sorry for itself!
It is my dd's birthday next month and she wanted some black and white pictures for her dining room.  Something with a modern feel.

Last night I felt inspired (and a little bit lazy: too lazy to stitch or so I thought!) so out came the stapler, some of my canvases which I quickly Gesso'd over and voila; fabric art!  I can show them here because she has no interest at all in my blog; well, she is only 24.  Far too busy living and having fun for blogging!

My first applique!  I know: too tired to stitch but when you get an idea you have to follow through don't you?  I stitched over two threads of the fabric; someone told me to do it over one but that to me seemed like madness: the stitching tension could cause it to fray.
So two threads seemed healthier!

I saw something similar in a shop for 37 euros....and it was rubbish how it was made.  So I knew I could do better.  I am really pleased with them and it is so nice when a pretty piece of fabric can just speak for itself!  Simple but effective, or at least that is my opinion!

I hope you are all having a lovely Sunday!  See you soon!
