Happy Birthday to Me!

Yes, tis my birthday today.  The grand old age of 43.  I was actually disappointed because I thought I would be 44 which means I would have lived a year longer than I had.  Trust me, it works in my head rofl.

Yesterday my wonderful hubby took me on a mystery drive which led to the Crafter's Basket in Cliffoney, Sligo.
I found some fabric to finish off my quilt (you remember: the one with the mystery colour I couldn't remember?  So I couldn't finish it?). The colours aren't exact but they are good enough for a first ever double quilt.

My hubby also bought me some filling, some batting and some other bits and peices.   A wonderful suprise.

They also donated some material towards my owls!  How amazingly kind!

Lovely and summery: which is about as much summer as I feel we are going to get.  It is the coldest May I have ever known.  Cold and wet.

We didn't let that stop us because after letting me have free rein in the Crafter's Basket, hubby took me to my next most favourite place.  The beach!  The sea isn't as nice as my Norfolk sea: there aren't proper white horses here..but it is still the sea and I am happy to be near the sea.  It is the most perfect birthday surprise.

It might not be the Norfolk coast but that isnt always a bad thing.  We don't get the Norfolk tourists here: no crowds, no over priced parking bays.

A beautiful, sandy and practially empty beach: there were cows on it at one end and the birds the other: I decide the birds looked safer!

And just around the corner!

And a little further along

I hate the politics here but the country is so pretty: so healing and so restful.  I love it: I love the wildness and I love the fact we can really lose ourselves in the countryside.

I got some amazing pressies off my children:

Beautiful flowers and my favourite bottle of Rioja from my beautiful daughter

And because I want to try new things with my Needlework Masters book, my boys got me these kits: Embroidery, Crewel and Stumpwork

Hubby cooked lunch (roast chicken) and I have had a lovely day on my sewing machine.  I have made some more pincushions for the charity: this time chickens!
Inspired by my new babies (and some more due this week)

Yes: the darker chick wondering off probably is a cockeral: they are always the naughtiest: momma clucks to keep her babies close and he deliberately walks off in the opposite direction.

Thankfully these little chicken and chick pin cushions are very well behaved!

They are so cute xx  Next, owls!!! Pirate owls and strawberry owls.

Well, that is me done.

Have a lovely week everyone and chat soon!
