Good News and a Finish

Well, it's been an incredibly stressful week waiting for my scan results.

So stressful, Holmsey got a new wardrobe and two new country friends to play with.

I took Prof Keene and Eimear (pronounced eemer) a copy of the second Holmsey Hare and Fergus book as a gift.  I do it to show the Prof that all his hard work, trying to keep me alive, is very much appreciated and that I don't waste it. Well, not much of it anyway.

Being on a new treatment this last three months is change.  And change sucks.  On top of that, if the hormone therapy hadn't worked, I would be back on a new chemo and that is two strikes from my limited treatment possibilities.

Stress, stress, stress and more stress.

There were some last minute issues with my appointment time which were even more stressful but the team at Galway sorted it out and I retained my appointment time and date.

Stress, stress, stress and more stress.

So I eventually get called in and straight away I asked the doctor to turn the screen off.  I don't need details, so nearly in tears, I told him straight away, turn it off.

"Why?" he asked.  "It's good news!"

Well, when you are on this journey, good news is a rarity so I admit I wasn't too open to getting my hopes up.

"Good news?"

"Good news!" he repeated.  "The hormone therapy is working, the cancer is still stable, there is little obvious growth in the bones, no growth in the liver, and so you are free to go home for another three months!"

Woohoo!  This means, if it continues, I should last the magic 6 month mark which means Taxol, my original chemo, will be available again when I need it, keeping me the alternative chemo in reserve.

What a weird world this is: one in which you live in 12 weekly spans.

So when times get tough, out comes the crochet!  I'm getting braver!

A little smock top for my granddaughter in a pretty moss green but you know my photo skills by now! Naff! It's much nicer in real life.

This is what is on the hook now  A pretty glitter wool which I bought from Norwich Market when I was last over there.  Hmmmm wonder what this will be.  No seriously.  I've so over the moon with the good news I can't remember which pattern I was using!

T'is gone.  Ah well, if in doubt...start another!

Happy crafting!
